So, Mother’s Day came and went without much excitement yesterday, except Ian and I went out and spent the whole day together.
By “excitement” I mean any positive news that I can join in the fun of the day’s celebration without some wincing on my part because I’m gonna be a mother on the ninth month, anyway.
So it was like pouring salt on an open wound (I do like to exaggerate! hehehe) when I had to count the number of people we don’t know, who assumed I’m a mother already and those we know, who asked if we’re expecting already, because the questions just keep coming!
I stopped counting at five. Five! That’s the total number of people who I figured had to ask me so the “Happy Mother’s Day” greeting would be appropriate. I know I’m wearing a baby-doll dress, but c’mon, do I really look like a pregnant woman or a mother already eventhough I haven’t given birth to any baby just yet?!
And I was almost sure I looked as sexy as this:
and I won’t mind the sophisticated look either!
The last straw came when we went to see the movie What Happens In Vegas, which by the way is a very funny movie and so romantic that I haven’t been able to get my most favorite scene (where Jack (Ashton Kutcher) and Joy (Cameron Diaz) discovered they have much in common when they both found themselves in the bathroom and Jack almost kissed Joy), out of mind. When I first saw the movie track I thought “isn’t Ashton too young for Cameron?” Big mistake! They do have the screen chemistry, allright!
The day was definitely full of unfolding mistakes and revelations.
Going back, I nearly lost my footing on the escalator when the guard on the cinema greeted me “Happy Mother’s Day, Ma’am!”
My husband choked on his laughter while the guard silently congratulated himself for being so clever! I know at this point that there couldn’t have been a better solution to my predicament than if I had carried a sign that says “I Look Pregnant But I’m Not Pregnant Yet”. *LOL*
Boy am I glad the day ended nicely as I got my pay when we met one of my clients after the movie and I treated my husband to a dinner for driving me all the way from QC to Taft Avenue on a rainy evening.
So, hope you had a nice Mother’s Day too without any wrong assumptions thrown your way
Belated Happy Mother’s Day everyone!
